How to find us.
If you are travelling to the Lake District by public transport, the following links could be very useful:

The nearest international airport is Manchester, which is approximately 2 hours by car or train from Windermere www.manchesterairport.co.uk

For coach travel - www.nationalexpress.com, www.stagecoachincumbria.co.uk
By car from the South:
-Leave the M6 Motorway at Junction 36 and stay in the left-hand lane. This is the A590 towards Kendal
-Stay on this road, which becomes the A591, bypassing Kendal, until you reach the town of Windemere (approx. 20 minutes' from the motorway)
-Turn left into the Town Centre, in front of the Natwest Bank
-Follow the one-way system through the town centre
-After the last shop on the left, (Sharpe's), take the second left turn into Ellerthwaite Road (the Ellerthwaite Lodge Hotel is on the corner)
-After 50 yards, take the first left into Holly Road. There are only six properties, and Kenilworth Guest House is next to last on the right.

By car from the North:
The quickest and easiest route is to travel down the M6 to junction 36 and follow the Directions from the South.
Alternatively, there is a more scenic route, as follows:
-Leave the M6 at Junction 40
-Take the A66 towards Keswick
-At the next roundabout, take the A592 towards Ullswater
-Drive along the side of Ullswater and continue over Kirkstone Pass
-On reaching the next roundabout, turn left onto the A591
-After half a mile, turn right into the Town Centre in front of Rockside Guest House (If you miss this, take the next turn right-both lead you through the town centre)
-Drive through the one-way system
-After the last shop on the left,(Sharpe's), take the second left into Ellerthwaite Road (the Ellerthwaite Lodge Hotel is on the corner)
-After 50 yards, take the first left into Holly Road. There are only six properties, and Kenilworth Guest House is next to last on the right.
Directions from the station : (bus or train)
-It is approximately a 7-8 minute (downhill!) walk from the railway station or coach stop to Kenilworth Guest House. Alternatively, a taxi should cost
approximately £3 - £4 There are invariably taxis waiting outside the railway station, but if you would prefer to prebook a taxi, here are some numbers for local taxi firms: 0771 77 4042, 0800 7317612, 015394 46777, 015394 44055
-Come out of the station and turn left past the entrance to Booth's supermarket
-You will see the Tourist Information Centre on the corner. Turn left here and continue walking downhill and follow this footpath through the town centre
-Take the second turn left after the last shop on the left (Sharpe's), into Ellerthwaite Road (the Ellerthwaite Lodge Hotel is on the corner)
-After 50 yards, take the first left into Holly Road
-Kenilworth Guest House is next to last on the right hand side.
